Do you want to improve your life? Do you have problems of letting go of toxic people or the past? Maybe your kindness is mistreated, and people abuse your nurturing nature? A lot of times when people want to improve their lives, they do not know where to start. The only thing they know is that they are unhappy with their current life. I use a powerful tool with my clients when they are stuck, and now I want to share it with you.
You have to treat your life like a garden!
Yes, you read it right. You need to treat your life like a garden. You have to pull weeds out, water and nurture it, plant seeds, protect it from garden pests and you need to work on it pretty much every day.
Visualize your life as a garden. What flowers should bloom in there? Can you see beautiful bees and butterflies in your garden who fertilize the flowers? Are birds singing? Are you able to harvest your fruit and vegetables?
Before you think, if I have gone insane let me explain.
Your garden is a representation of how much you set boundaries, love yourself, learn, rebuild and nurture yourself. The seeds you plant in your life are dreams, ideas and the skills you learn. A fence and pest control are your boundaries to make sure people are not stealing your fruit, vegetables or flowers. Your fruits, vegetables, and flowers represent your time, knowledge, money and kindness. The weeds represent toxic people in your life, some of the weeds might look beautiful, like ivy does, but at the end, ivy can kill your trees and with this the possibility of harvesting your fruit. Bees, butterflies, and birds represent nurturing people in your life, the people who cheer you on and lift you up.
Your garden should be your sanctuary, your oasis, so should be your life. A beautiful and tranquil garden takes a lot of work, so does working on your life. On some days we might not feel up to it, or we let accidentally weeds grow aka toxic people in our lives.
How to improve your life? How do I grow my garden?
Understand that you are the gardener
You choose what seeds you want to plant, what fruits and vegetables will grow in your garden. Sometimes we need to cut off branches of our trees to make them grow stronger, which means, sometimes you need to let go of people in your life, or you need to let go of your past.
Do not give away your fruit or vegetables
We all want to help people, however giving people our fruit and vegetables which represents money or just sorting things our for people without telling them how you did it, won’t help people. What happens then is that people come back wanting more of your fruit and vegetables, and on one point you might have none left for yourself.
Hand out your seeds
Yes, handout your seeds. Seeds represent your knowledge, how did you grow such a beautiful garden, how did you nurture and plant the seeds. Tell people how you do it so they can improve their lives. Of course, in some cases you are allowed to charge for your seeds, that is okay, but at the end, you taught people to grow their garden and harvest their fruit and vegetables.
Never fertilize your garden with bullshit!
Yes, no faking it till you make it. No artificial stuff that looks good and no stealing other people’s flowers or seeds. Understand that growing and improving your life takes time. Do not force it or get jealous what other people have. Understand that each garden is unique. The flowers of someone else’s garden might not look or fit into your garden. Give yourself time to grow. You want to make sure your roots are deep.
Reap the rewards! Harvest!
If you work continuously on your garden which means you work on improving your life, there will be times when you just can enjoy your garden. You can sit there, watch the beautiful butterflies and bees flying around. You will be able to see and admire the vibrant colors and intoxicating smell of your flowers and enjoy the tasty and juicy fruit and vegetables.
A lot of my clients find it helpful when I bring up this analogy. They know that gardening can be difficult, but it is so rewarding. Improve your life today. Work on your garden. I love to do this over a lovely cup of fragrant Yasmin Tea.
